The Department of Mathematics at RV College of Engineering hosts a VTU-recognized research center for conducting Ph.D. programs. The department currently has 12 Ph.D. guides. Presently 10 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. degrees, while 8 scholars have already completed their Ph.D. The research center supports students in their project work and assists research scholars in solving various mathematical problems.
The primary research areas include Fluid Mechanics, Graph Theory, Special Functions, Numerical Analysis, Combinatorial Optimization, Mathematical Modeling, Fuzzy Automata, Extended Fuzzy Sets, Fuzzy Graph Theory, Number Theory, History of Mathematics, Fractional Differential Equations, Differential Geometry, and Partial Differential Equations.
