Department of Information Science and Engineering engages the research scholars, supervisors, faculty and advisors from academia and industry to motivate research in the Department.  Research Scholars are involved in Research activities in various Research avenues.  Faculty and Staff of Department of ISE are continuously invole in carrying out Research and Constultancy Projects.  Various Research activies are regularly scheduled in the Research Centre to incultate the Research arenas via Workshops, Technical Talks, Symposium, Seminars and Conferences.  The Research Centre is totally abided to VTU rules and regualtions with timely intimation to the scholars via circulars and other notifications, sent by VTU and College.  A proper engagement with the  Research Centre is assured for the scholars to regularly update their progress and documents in the ISE Research Centre files. 

The Research has been carried out in prominent domain which has been catagarized as follows:

  • Computers Networks and Security, IOT, SDN, Colud Computing, Cryptography, Data Security, Grid Security, Information Security, Product Security, Protocols, etc.
  • Computer Vision and Image Processing, Soft Computing.
  • AI & ML and allied areas
  • Software Engineering and allied areas

Research Avenues:

The opportunities are enormous and a few of them are as below in the respective identified specialized areas.

1. Computer networks & security: SDN, cloud computing, cryptography, data security, grid security, information security, product security, protocols etc;

2. Image processing and  Image prediction, cancer cell recognition, image filtering, bioinformatics etc;

3. Soft computing: machine learning, data mining, optimization, sustainable development, genetic algorithms etc;

4. Software Engineering: software rejuvenation, aspect oriented requirements engineering etc;

Research Centre Activities

Open Research Symposium-2015:

Department of Master of Computer Applications in collaboration with Department of Information Science and Engineering, under the coordination of Dr. Mamatha G S, conducted open seminar for VTU Ph.D Research scholars as per the VTU Research Center regulations on 22nd May 2015. Dr. K V Vishwanatha, Professor, CIT, Gubbi, Dr. Krishna M, Dean R&D, RVCE and Dr. Usha J, I/C Director, MCA, RVCE were the judges for the day. 20 Research Scholars presented their work. All the PhD scholars registered under VTU ISE and MCA Research Centers were allowed to discuss their problems/challenges in front of the research expert committee comprising of Dr. Viswanath K.V and Dr. Usha J and Dr. M. Krishna and taken the inputs for further improvements/modifications of their research work.

Open Research Symposium-2016:

Department of Information Science and Engineering, under the coordination of Dr. Mamatha G S, conducted open seminar for VTU Ph.D Research scholars as per the VTU Research Center regulations on 08 th JULY 2016. Dr. Guruprasad H.S, Prof. & HoD, Dept. of CSE, BMSCE, Bengaluru and Dr. Ramakanth Kumar P, Dean Academics, RVCE were the evaluation committee members for the morning session from 9.30 am -1.00 pm. Dr. S. M Dilipkumar, Dept. of CSE, UVCE, Bengaluru, and Dr. G.N Srinivasan, Professor, Dept. of ISE, RVCE were the judges for the afternoon session from 2.00 pm-4.30 pm.

Open Research Symposium-2017:

Department of Information Science & Engineering, under the coordination of Dr. Mamatha G S, conducted open seminar for VTU Ph.D Research scholars as per the VTU Research Center regulations on 9th September 2017. Dr.Usha J , Director, MCA, RVCE Bengaluru and Dr. S M Dilip Kumar, Dept of UVCE, Dr. N. K. Cauvery, Prof. and HOD, ISE, RVCE, Bengaluru and Dr. B M Sagar, Associate Professor, Dept of ISE, RVCE were the evaluation committee members for the sessions. All research scholars of ISE Research centre, both the internal candidates and external candidates presented their progress in research. Inputs were provided by the panel and directions were given for future work.
