Center of Excellence on Macro Electronics

The Center of Excellence in Macroelectronics is established, under TEQIP-II, sub component 1.2.1. with a focus on design and development of Flexible Electronics devices and systems. The objective of this center is to fabricate and characterize new class of materials, devices and systems based on nano materials, amorphous semiconductors, polymers, metal oxides and MEMS and also to develop flexible microelectronics devices, sensors, solar cells and TFTs for applications in health care, defense, communication fields.

Interdisciplinary Research Center (IDRC) is a state of the art research facility that houses research equipment for fabrication and in-line characterization of the materials and devices. It is a central facility available to research students, faculty of RV College of Engineering to work on Micro and Nano research areas and applications from all branches of engineering. The facility was built through financial assistance of various government and private agencies like DST, DRDO, UGC, AICTE, VGST, VTU through projects and Rashtreeya Sikhana Samithi Trust (RSST) of RVCE. Also, funds from TEQIP-II [Sub component 1.2 and 1.2.1] program sanctioned by the World Bank was utilized in improving the research skills among the staff and students through funding as seed money.

The mission of this facility is to support research and educational objectives of RVCE and offer state of the art fabrication and characterization facilities and services to novel and technologically relevant research. Some of the multidisciplinary research activities at IDRC are in micro and nano-scale electronics, Nano technologies, smart materials, Micro electromechanical systems (MEMS), bio-electronic interfaces and integrated small-scale systems. Strong emphasis is given to networking with other research labs to enhance breadth of our services. The result is the ability to tap into in-house expertise in multi-disciplinary domains like MEMS, Nanoelectronics Devices, Plasmonics, Polymer Bio Sensors, to name a few. In addition, we have established a centre of excellence on Macro-electronics that contributes regularly with patents and paper publications.
