BIOSKEN is a student forum performs various activities.
Department of Biotechnology has a students forum “BIOSKEN” started by the first batch of biotech students of RVCE in 2003 which conducts various techno cultural activities every year. The various events taking place are Paper Presentation Competition, Quiz Competition, Project Competition, Technical College Competition, Online Quiz Competition, Technical Paper Writing Competition etc., under HELIX. The “GO GREEN” campaign was launched (8-15 November 2009) and the annual event “Helix-09” was organized (14-15 November) by the student’s forum “BIOSKEN”. The “GO GREEN” campaign involved various activities like field interactive session with public (outside campus), screening documentaries, an artificial tree “Kalpavriksha”, a flex board to write message on extensive ecological damage, staging street plays, cleanliness drive throughout the campus for segregated waste disposal, planting the sapling to form “Sanjeevani Van” having eco-friendly and medicinal plants, tree hugging event signifying their importance (on campus). The student’s forum “BIOSKEN” conducted various techno cultural activities such as National Conference on “Go Green” (Technical Paper presentation), quiz competition, Product launch competition etc
National Conference on ‘GO GREEN’ 2009
The Department of Biotechnology, RV College of Engineering has launched an environmental awareness campaign ‘GO GREEN’ started on 8th November 2009. The 8th -14th of November 2009 was designated as the ‘GO GREEN’ week.
The National conference on ‘GO GREEN’ emphasizes on environmental engineering organized by the Department of Biotechnology. The conference is supported by GSS America, the conference sponsor and BioSpectrum Asia, the media partner. This year we have extended our horizons by inviting graduate students, academicians and professionals from industries to participate, present and share their research.
This conference is an effort to facilitate networking between students of various institutions, research institutes and academia of the country; also the students would have the opportunity to showcase their research prowess to a diverse audience, exploring possibilities of research collaboration and career prospects with the participating organizations.

Mr. A S Sadashivaiah, Chairman, KSPCB.
Oral presentations by students, academicians, research scholars and professionals from across the country; networking between graduate students, industry, academia and research institutes; creating awareness about current environmental problems and discussion of appropriate solutions to overcome the same.
The main themes of the conference are:
Composting and management of municipal solid waste,
Recycling techniques for agri waste, e-waste, hospital waste etc.,
Renewable energy through natural resources and
Plantation of GM plants for Bio-fuels.
Workshop on “ Next generation Sequencing Analysis”
The workshop on “ Next generation Sequencing Analysis” was held on 18th and 19th of February 2014. It brought together a wide range of bioinformaticians, Research Scholars academicians and students under one roof with the intention to learn, discuss concepts and inculcate knowledge on Next generation Sequencing Analysis. This conference was sponsored by TEQIP and hosted by Department of Biotechnology, RVCE.
