International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 26th June, is observed as an " International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking". It is observed annually on this date, since 1988. Drug abuse is a major concern of the present world. Amount of users has increased considerably in the past years, with the age 16-21 most susceptible to it.
A common motive for first time drug use is excitement to try something new, force from friends or  peer pressure . Realising the fact that, this young generation needs to be educated on this. We the cadets of NCC RVCE organized an awareness program at RV girls high school on 25th June 2016.
25 cadets from NCC RVCE participated in this educational event. All the 10th grade girls of the school were present at the auditorium eagerly waiting to witness our program.

YOGA TRAINING PROGRAM

The program was held at UVCE which was organised by AICTE for the first time to train students from technical education as masters for the International Yoga Day i.e.21st of June. We camped at the base for the night and early in the morning we started to trek to the peak. We picked up all the plastic at the peak, spreading the awareness of Swachh Bharath to the local tourists. We continued there and continued the cleanliness drive while descending from the peak, cleaning the trail to Kodachadri peak such that the further, tourists should not throw any plastic. That night we proceeded to the beautiful town of Shringeri and rested there for the night. The next morning we visited the Saraswati temple and started our journey back to Bangalore.
The cadets carried home a lifetime experience and unforgettable memories with each other. We achieved much more than our aim of Go green to purify the environment; Meditate to purify the soul; Truth to purify the evil. We gained the bonding of a family, we laid the foundations of trust and responsibilities, an experience of team spirit and adventure.

SSB CAPSULE

The Indian Armed Forces is the world's 3rd largest military force and has the world's largest volunteer army, one which derives its manpower from patriotic enthusiasts rather than conscription or mandatory service. But most of the youth eligible to join them miss out on the opportunity for a simple reason of lack of awareness on the selection procedure and criteria. To overcome this situation, the cadets of NCC RVCE, organized an SSB capsule on 18th march 2016 at IEM auditorium with the aim to enlighten the students who wish to join the Armed Forces and clear their doubts and confusion about the process.
At the end of the session the audience were clear about SSB selections and the path to be followed to crack it. From the talks we realized that the experience offered by serving in Defence services is extraordinary. The satisfaction the job offers is coupled with the privilege of serving our nation and provides a feeling that no other seven-figure-pay-package job can.
