Various activities are conducted by the department to promote involvement of staff and students in research and advanced training programmes such as Faculty Development Programmes, Seminars, Workshops.
Faculty development programmes are being conducted by the department. National Seminars were conducted by the department related to restoration, rehabilitation and reliability of structures, alternative construction materials, rain water harvesting & water conservation and Technologies for sustainable development. Various seminars and workshops are also conducted from time to time.
Colloquium on World Wetland Day ,Engineer’s Day Celebrations, World Water Day Celebrations are arranged by the department every year.
It is a tradition in the department to hold Technical talks on various topics and some of them are related to Urban Air Quality Management, Pollution-A Serious Threat To Nature ,Hazardous Pollution-Management, High tech bridge construction and bridge rehabilitation,Solid waste management, Applications Of Remote Sensing & Geographical Information System.

Concrete Fair 2021
Concrete Fair 2021 is an International level online technical symposium hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering, in association with ICI - BENC, ICI (Indian Concrete Institute), and ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) Student Chapters of RV College of Engineering in the month of October, 2021. The event is organized to encourage the spirit of learning and to help students gain knowledge during this pandemic situation. The 10th edition of Concrete Fair, being the second-ever online edition is expected to have over 350 participants from 32 colleges across the state and country participating. The event is completely organized on online platforms like Cisco WebEx, Google Meet, and Classmarker It is a concoction of competition, technology, and creativity of 10 events, spread across two days. MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, BMS College of Engineering, JNTU Anantapur, Malnad College of Engineering, SJCE Mysuru, Christ University were a few of the many colleges that attended. Last year few of the ASCE student chapters India Region had also participated they were Saint Gits College of Engineering, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, and Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology. For this year’s Concrete Fair, Prestige Group are the Title Sponsors.

Concrete Fair 2019 a national level technical symposium is being hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering, in association with ICI-BENC and ICI and ASCE Student Chapters of institute, at RV College of Engineering on 15th and 16th of October, 2019. The event is organised to promote industry academia interaction and to facilitate hands-on experience and experiential learning aided by the eminent personalities from the industry. Themed around Sustainable Development, this year’s event aims to spread awareness and importance of sustainability and finding innovative solutions to real-world problems, by tapping into spirited budding engineers. Being the 8th edition of Concrete Fair, the event has grown in strength and impact over the years, with over 800 participants from 45 colleges across the state participating, it’ll be a concoction of competition, technology, and creativity over 10 events spread across two days. CONsortium, the flagship event, provides a platform for energetic entrepreneurial thinking. Students prepare pitch- decks of an innovative idea that addresses modern problems, often using interdisciplinary tools, aiming to gain traction from industry experts attending the event. CONquer, a highly competed technical quiz, challenges students on the history, current trends and futuristic ideas in the engineering domain. With other events focusing on research presentations, design, planning and other aspects of Civil Engineering aiming to bridge the gap between industry and academia.
