Centre for manufacturing research and technology utilization (CMRTU)

Founder Director: Dr. S.C.Sharma, Ex-Principal, R V college of Engineering

Dr S.C Sharma is a researcher, Professor Educationalist with Academic Excellence and strong volition to promote technology society symbiosis. He has developed scores of new composite materials for defence, aerospace, structural and automotive applications. He has worked on Aluminum alloy, corundum particulate composite for high temperature of gas turbine kaveri engine (LCA) for GTRE. Being a visionary starting research in a very humble way has established the “Centre for manufacturing research and technology utilization (CMRTU)”on the campus of R.V.College of Engineering. The center is well equipped with the state of the arts facilities for the development and testing of composite materials

Modern composites constitute an important class of design and weight efficient structural materials that are encompassing every sphere of engineering applications. Superior directional properties, high specific strength and stiffness properties, design tailoring, ease of manufacturing
complex shape as well as scores of other attributes make these materials ideally “Designer choice”

The development of composites as new engineering materials has been one of the major innovations in the field of materials in the past couple of decades. In recent years composite materials are gaining importance in engineering industries especially for high technology applications like Aero Engines, modern gas turbine engines, automobiles.

Under CMRTU the following Labs were established

  • Composite materials lab.
  • Materials testing lab.
  • Foundry lab.
  • Tribology lab.
  • Metallurgical lab.
  • DSP & VLSI
